Four Corners shocked Australia with images from inside the Don Dale detention centre. For many Forgotten Australians the images were a disturbing reminder of their own abuse and continuing fight for justice. Open Place’s Simon Gardiner spoke to one survivor.

The Victorian Government has today announced Hardship Payments for people who were physically, psychologically or emotionally abused or neglected as children in institutions in Victoria before 1990, and who are now terminally or critically ill.

$165 million has been committed to establish a new redress scheme for Victorians who prior to 1990 were placed in institutional care and experienced physical, psychological, and emotional abuse or neglect.
